Weyburn Wildlife Federation holds first fish derby

A total of 95 entrants took part in the Weyburn Wildlife Federation's first fish derby, held Sunday afternoon at Mainprize Regional Park. The holes were pre-drilled, and prizes were available for the biggest pike, walleye and perch caught. The derby was catch-and-release, with each fish weighed and then released back into the lake.

Weyburn arts curator Regan Lanning gave a guided tour of the James Weir People's Choice art exhibit at the Weyburn Art Gallery on Thursday. The Grade 2 class was from St. Michael School, and shared lots of comments and opinions on the various art pieces. The People's Choice exhibition is open for votes until March 17 at 5 p.m., and the winners will be announced at a reception on Thursday, March 24 at 7 p.m.
