Protests held at Saskatchewan Legislature

Kingston Midstream presented a donation of $15,500 to the Midale Swimming Pool on Tuesday.

Jennifer Lorinczy of the Salvation Army (left) accepted a donation of $700 from Weyburn Rotarians Ray Hamm, chair of the community services committee, and club president Nancy Styles on Tuesday at the Souris School parking lot.

The Weyburn Police Service dealt with 97 calls for service for the week of May 25 to June 1, and issued a total of seven Criminal Code charges and three Provincial tickets. Weyburn police arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant on Saturday.

There are no new cases of COVID-19 to report on June 2, and the provincial total remains at 646. Of the 646 reported cases, 33 are considered active. Fourteen more people have recovered, bringing the provincial total to 602.

Weyburn Minor Football received a major boost of support on Monday, as the Calgary-based pipeline company Kingston Midstream donated $35,000 through the company’s Richardson Foundation.

Mike and Cara Weger and their family, known collectively as Team Teresa, wrapped up Cystic Fibrosis Month with virtual opening and closing ceremonies for the month of fundraising on Sunday, including a walk into the sunset at a friend’s farm.

There is one new case of COVID-19 as of June 1, from the Regina region. The provincial total remains at 646 reported cases. The total is unchanged because a sample reported as a positive case in Regina on May 27 was retested and found to be negative.

Warm dry weather has helped farmers in the southeast region make a lot of progress with their seeding operations, with seeding at 84 per cent completion for the entire area.
