Weyburn Review

Pension plans are in place to help assure people of some kind of financial support once they take retirement from their jobs, and it can be tricky at times if it turns out the funds aren’t fully supported.

The City of Weyburn closed out their pension plan and will move their assets to the Municipal Employees Pension Plan (MEPP) at a cost of $8.5 million. City council was updated on the pension plan’s move on Monday evening, which took effect on Jan. 1.

People filled the dance floor for a Bryan Adams song, “The Summer of ‘69”, during the Valentine’s dance hosted by Inclusion Weyburn at the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop on Monday evening.

A member of the Weyburn Police – CTSS Unit conducted a traffic stop on an individual on Wednesday. The male driver was subsequently taken into custody and is now facing a charge of possession of methamphetamine (crystal meth).

A 16-year-old set of triplets, Jordann, Jada and Jalisa Dunkley, chatted with Danielle Johnston who held her own triplets, Jack, Liam and Karlee, while visiting the Valentine family party at Calvary Baptist Church on Saturday afternoon.

Children took their best shot at a variety of carnival games to win prizes, as they took part in Queen Elizabeth School's Family Fun Night on Friday evening.

Grade 3 students showed their unity as they sang and clapped for the song “Seize the Day” from the musical “Newsies”, in a rehearsal at Souris School for the Weyburn Rotary Music Festival.
