Classroom Champions at several local schools recently received a visit from Michelle Salt, two-time Paralympian, World Cup silver medalist and national champion, including Queen Elizabeth School in Weyburn.

Former Weyburn pianist Meagan Milatz and violinist Amy Hillis, also known as meagan&amy, have been selected for a pan-Canadian tour offered by Debut Atlantic, Jeunesses Musicales Canada and Prairie Debut in 2019-2020.

Scholarships and bursaries were presented to Grade 12 students from the Weyburn Comprehensive School, during their annual awards night on June 6. The Beta Sigma Phi XiXi Bursary was presented to Josh Zackrisson.

By Greg Nikkel Watering restrictions placed by the City of Weyburn were eased slightly on Monday night, in light of recent rain storms that provided significant amounts of moisture to replenish the city’s reservoir.

The Weyburn Police Service Criminal Investigation Unit, Weyburn Police Service patrol units, RCMP Police service dog, and the National Weapons Support Team (NWEST) conducted an early morning search on a residence in Weyburn on Thursday.

The Committee for the Helen Davidson Music Award announced that they have two worthy recipients. Mikaila Mahnke (voice) and Maxim Hiske (piano) will each receive a scholarship of $2,000 to put towards their continuing music education.

The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Association selected the operators for the province’s 51 cannabis retail store permits. More than two-thirds of these successful applicants are from Saskatchewan or have operations in the province.
