By David Willberg, Estevan Mercury A Weyburn resident has received top marks for his ability on the piano. Max Hiske, a 15-year-old, received the Medal of Excellence for Saskatchewan from Conservatory Canada for the Grade 8 level.

A number of card games were played at the Wheatland Senior Centre during the past two weeks. The following are the results of the Wheatland’s activities from October 2 to 7. Bridge: (Monday) 1st Theresa Istace, 2nd Shirley Sparks, 3rd Johnny Whitell.

Weyburn Red Wings players Erik Olson and Jesse Young place packages macaroni and KD Dinner into boxes, as they volunteer at the Weyburn Salvation Army to help sort non-perishable donations during the Farm Credit Canada Food Drive on Thursday.

Softball players from local teams received their year-end awards, during the annual awards night for the Weyburn Minor Baseball Association.

During the month of October there are three art exhibits on display at local art galleries. A “Loose Leaves” art exhibit by Jaynie Himsl will be displayed at the Weyburn Credit Union Gallery, which is open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays.

Weyburn Comprehensive School is excited to celebrate this year’s Education Week. Education week runs from October 15 to 20, and this year’s theme is “Building Our Future by Learning Together.

There will be several events held through the month of October at the Weyburn Public Library, including the fall book sale, and events for Library Week, which will be marked on Oct. 15-21. The Fall Book Sale will be held from Thursday, Oct.

Graham DeLaet started the 2018 PGA Tour season with a strong showing, after tying fifth at the Safeway Open. During the first round, DeLaet started on the back nine.
