ASSINIBOIA — The Assiniboia Aces senior men’s baseball team haven’t just kept busy with league playoffs; they are now in the final preparations for hosting upcoming Senior Men’s AA Tier 2 Provincial Championships.
Upcoming Aug. 8-10, the ball diamonds action will not only include the 4-team provincial championship draw but organizers have lined up some other additions to encourage people to come to the diamonds.
The competition will include Findlater Braves, Cabri River Rats, North Battleford Beavers and your hometown Assiniboia Aces. The Beavers and Aces will be coming off hot of their League Baseball finals run, as they look to win a provincial title in southern Saskatchewan.
In a July 14 social media post, the Aces stated, “It’s gonna be an awesome weekend with some great ball to watch. Event will include beer gardens concession by 1st Ave. Frosty Foods and a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning of event.”
The Aces are 2024 reigning provincial champions and look forward to fans in the stands to cheer them on for a repeat title. It’s an affordable weekend as a weekend pass is only $20 and gets you into all the games that will be part of this provincial championship, or $10 a day.
It’s no secret that hosting events in the community brings an economic boost to town as visiting players, coaches and their fans will purchase food, fuel and accommodations in addition to taking in some unique shopping opportunities in town.
