REGINA — Regina Fire and Protective Services was among the many community groups that set up displays at this year’s I Love Regina Day in Victoria Park Saturday.
Families and children were invited to step inside a fire truck, explore the equipment and ask firefighters questions about their work in an opportunity for RFPS to connect with the community outside of emergencies. The booth also featured an interactive scavenger hunt designed to engage and teach about fire safety in a fun way.
Regina’s fire service began in 1882 as a volunteer brigade with horse-drawn equipment. By 1909, the city had a full-time paid department. Today, Regina Fire and Protective Services operates multiple stations citywide, responding to fires, rescues and emergencies while building on more than a century of service.
