The name may be changing, but the security and reliability of having an insurance broker you know and trust remains as Farrell Agencies across southeast Saskatchewan switches over to Westland Insurance.
The acquisition of Farrell Agencies by the B.C.-based, family owned insurance firm was officially made about a year ago. And the signage is scheduled to reflect that, as the seven offices in Saskatchewan will soon be gradually transformed.
As a new name goes up, the same people who cared for customers will be on hand to deliver an even greater array of insurance options thanks to Westland’s four decades of experience in the industry.
“We are a family-owned business that is dedicated to supporting the community and the local causes that Farrell Agencies considered important,” says Cari Watson, Westland’s Vice President, Customer Experience. “That’s why Farrell was comfortable joining Westland because of the confidence that we’d continue that community-oriented, family-owned model of business.
“They knew Farrell Agencies would be in good hands, and we’re pleased that the Farrell staff have stayed on.”
One area Westland will be learning in is farm insurance, which Farrell has tailored well to Saskatchewan and Manitoba operations.
“We see this as a very positive way to expand our knowledge of specialty farm insurance through this purchase,” Watson says. “And in turn, we will be providing customers access to expanded markets for their insurance products.”
As a result of the acquisition, Westland now has 131 locations in 75 communities throughout B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Part of that includes assuming the naming rights for Farrell Agencies Arena, home of the Yorkton Terriers, which will be known as Westland Arena.
“So, the message is that we are the same great people at the same great company, only the name has changed,” Watson adds.
