League playoff and provincial games keep U18 Pats on top

With a balanced roster that includes a number of Canora players, the U18 Preeceville Pats have enjoyed a successful regular season. That success is following them into league playoffs and their provincial run.

PREECEVILLE - The Preeceville U18 Pats have been keeping busy and are proving to their competitors that they are a force not to be messed with. The team is reaping a successful season with that success following them into league playoffs and their provincial run.

On Feb. 8, Preeceville travelled to Foam Lake in a provincial series. Preeceville skated away with the win in a 7-4 final score. Scoring for Preeceville were, Tomas Hauber of Canora (three goals) along with singles by Wyatt Wolkowski of Canora, Kaiden Masley, Brody Shankowsky and Trae Peterson. Assists were by Spencer Leech, Kaiden Masley, Bryker Smith, Mason Babiuk and Tomas Hauber.

In the second game, Foam Lake came to Preeceville on Feb. 15, hungry for the win that they needed to stay alive in the provincial run. But Preeceville was ready for them and skated away with a 9-1 win, dashing Foam Lakes hopes of staying in the game. Scoring for Preeceville were:  Hudsyn Nelson (three goals), Bryker Smith (two goals), Briel Beblow of Canora (two goals). Single goals came from Bronson Heshka of Canora and Trae Peterson. Assists were by: Cole Masley, Briel Beblow, Tomas Hauber, Zander Purdy, Spencer Leech and Mason Babiuk.

Preeceville played Lumsden in the next set of provincial games, starting on Feb. 24 in Lumsden. It was a close matchup but the Pats squeaked out the win with a 2-1 final score. Scoring for  Preeceville were Mason Babiuk and Briel Beblow. Assists were by Kaiden Masley and Hunter Lamb of Canora. Preeceville was to take on Lumsden on March 5 in Preeceville.

In league playoffs, Preeceville travelled to Melville on Feb. 26 for the first game and walked away with a 7-1 win. Scoring for Preeceville were Hudsyn Nelson (two goals), Briel Beblow (two goals), along with singles from Tomas Hauber, Trae Peterson and Kaiden Masley. Assists were by: Hunter Lamb, Mason Babiuk, Hudsyn Nelson, Dixon Paul and Tomas Hauber.

Melville came to Preeceville for the second game of the series on Feb. 27. It was no contest as Preeceville dominated the entire game with a 12-2 win. Scoring for Preeceville were:  

Kaiden Masley (three goals), Mason Babiuk (three goals), Hudsyn Nelson (two goals), and singles from Tomas Hauber, Jace Vogel, Brody Shankowsky and Briel Beblow. Assists were by: Hudsyn Nelson, Jake Soltys, Kaiden Masley, Tomas Hauber, Hunter Lamb and Mason Babiuk, Preeceville will now take on Moosomin in the second round of playoffs on March 9.
