CANORA - The Canora Courier would like to introduce our new reporter.

Cleo Ding is a general assignment reporter who will be covering rural communities in east central Saskatchewan, including Canora, Preeceville, and Kamsack, through the Local Journalism Initiative (LJI) program.

Ding developed a keen interest in covering underserved communities while forming trusting relationships with diverse sources in the years reporting as a student journalist in Ottawa. In 2022, she travelled to Europe for her international news reporting training and has been aspiring to travel to tell stories of the vulnerable voices ever since. As a multimedia journalist she has written for the Ottawa Citizen, Capital Current and Euronews.eu.

The Local Journalism Initiative is a partnership between newspapers and the federal government to support the creation of original civic journalism that covers the diverse needs of underserved communities across Canada. The content produced will be made available to media organizations across the nation through a Creative Commons license.
