The adult loon population continues to thrive at Madge Lake, although fewer chicks than expected are being seen, according to the 2016 loon initiatives and survey report issued recently by Doug Welykholowa of Madge Lake, chair of the Yellowhead Flywa

Normally not every Canora child would have the opportunity to enjoy a day of snowshoeing and healthy eating, but from March 20 to 24 they were able to do just that, said Brandi Zavislak, Canora Community Development Officer.

The second annual Canora Sno-Pitch Tournament was held on March 18 at the Canora Sportsgrounds. Kerry Fullawka, one of the organizers, said this event is something that can involve almost everyone in the community.

Several district residents are among the 84 students of Parkland College in Yorkton who were awarded a total of $98,900 in internal scholarships on March 17.

The Royal Canadian Legion likes to award young people for artistic and literary talent, according to Canora branch members Pat Thompson and Debbie Gabora.

The Good Spirit 4-H Club public speaking competition was held on February 26. From Cloverbuds to seniors, all the members did an impressive job of their speeches with a wide variety of topics, said Carmen Wolkowski, general leader.
