Two Aboriginal storytellers who were in the area’s schools last year are returning to the district in February, which is Saskatchewan Aboriginal Storytelling Month.

Ten Saskatchewan women will once again set out on their snowmobiles January 31st on a 1,400 kilometre trek to raise money for equipment as well as bring awareness for breast cancer research.

The judges for the Parkland Music Festival which starts February 7 and concludes on the 12th in Canora have been selected.

After a tense start to the new year, members of the Canora branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation were able to breath a collective sigh of relief on January 12 when branch executive was re-organized.

In the six-team tournament Saturday and Sunday, which included Canora Red and Canora Black Cobras teams, Preeceville won the A-side final. Yorkton won the B-side final and Kamsack won the C-side.

To address the dwindling interest in junior curling in the Canora area, a curling clinic was organized for January 10 and the organizer was pleasantly surprised when 28 youth signed up from Canora, Preeceville, Sturgis, Norquay, Kamsack and Yorkton.
