There’s a lot of artistic talent within our community that perhaps goes unnoticed and flies just off the radar of some people.
Luckily, that talent was put on full display this past weekend, as the Akre and Hicks families hosted a joint art show and sale entitled, ‘Art by the Acre’ from June 22-24 at their acreages just north of Outlook.
The show and sale featured the works of sculptor Dale Hicks, photographer Sarah Hicks, acrylic artist Janet Akre, sculptor James Korpan, and textile artist Lynne Hermanson.
Guests were invited to come and check out the works, stay for a visit, enjoy the properties and if they were so inclined, purchase a piece or two to take home.
The works on display were some of the most eye-catching pieces ever seen up close, including the magnificent sculptures dotting the Hicks’ yard and the colorful paintings housed in the tent on the Akre property. Janet even offered free bookmarks in the form of leftover paint trimmings, made up of all sorts of color combinations that grabbed the eye in their own right.
An artist reception was held on Saturday evening at the Hicks’ acreage to celebrate the showcase.
Those who took the time to walk through the show remarked how incredible some of the pieces were, and were glad to see such talent in their home community.
