BridgePoint to Mark Twenty Year Anniversary

Eating disorder program dates back to 1997

A local health program that helps people dealing with eating disorders is set to mark twenty years with a celebration event next month.

The BridgePoint Center for Eating Disorders in Milden will celebrate its 20th anniversary on Thursday, May 18 with a program consisting of a guest speaker, silent auction, door prizes, a BBQ fundraiser, and tours of the center.

The guest speaker will be Siera Bearchell, a Top Nine finalist in the 2016 Miss Universe Competition who is originally from Moose Jaw, and in the time since the competition has become an advocate for body confidence and self-esteem.

The BridgePoint initiative started in 1997 as a pilot project, and in the last two decades has turned into an innovative program designed at tackling the sensitive issue of eating disorders, including bulimia, anorexia, binge-eating, and disorders that aren't specified as of yet.  The facility is a provincial resource that provides options that include rehabilitation, recovery and healing, and the non-profit works in partnership with the Heartland Health Region, funded through Saskatchewan Health.

Tours of the BridgePoint Center begin at 11:30 am, while the celebration program begins at 1:00.  Those interested in attending the anniversary celebration are asked to contact the facility to RSVP.
