On Friday at the skate park, Bryan Cottenie of Kamsack, Affinity’s district delegate, presented a cheque of $2,000 to Kev Sumner, the Kamsack recreation director. The money comes from Affinity’s Community Development Fund.

Added to the Affinity donation are a Community Foundation Grant of $2,500 that Sumner had received from Canada Post, and another $720 that was generated during a fundraising event held at the park in June.

Sumner said that the next step is to meet with volunteers and users of the park in order to identify which of the pieces of equipment might need replacing.

“We’re looking at brochures and catalogues and hopefully before the end of the season, we’ll have some new equipment, be they obstacles, bleachers, ramps, pipes or half-pipes, to place at the park,” he said.

“This park has a lot of potential.”
