James Betts will be performing at the Sturgis Mini-Miracle 37 scheduled to be hosted by the Sturgis Kinsmen and Kinettes on March 2.

James “Jimbo” Betts is a well-rounded musician who currently resides in Melville, said release by Eugene Boychuk, Sturgis Kinsmen member.

He has been playing professionally for 17 years, both in group ensembles and as a solo performer, the release said. His acoustic show provides a survey of songs that span many generations and genres, ranging from 1950s classics to contemporary hits.

He is an accomplished singer, drummer, harmonica player and guitarist.

His musical influences include: Matchbox Twenty, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, John Popper and The Barenaked Ladies, just to name a few, it said. He has also had the honour to work with Jeff Healey, and to open for Nazareth.

Betts also writes and records his own songs, in which he plays all the instruments that can be heard on the tracks. He plays a variety of venues, such as private parties, seniors’ homes, weddings, restaurants, and music festivals, it said.

“This will be James’ second year performing in the Saskatchewan Telemiracle fundraiser, with his timeslot for this year being March 5 at 3:40 p.m.,” said Boychuk.
