No Outlook rodeo this summer due to COVID impact

Sadly for rodeo fans, there will be no third edition of the Outlook Riverbank Rodeo this summer due to the lasting impact of COVID-19.

Sadly for rodeo fans, there will be no third edition of the Outlook Riverbank Rodeo this summer due to the lasting impact of COVID-19.

The event was scheduled to take place over August 21 & 22 just south of LCBI High School at the same location that the rodeo committee has used since the inaugural event two years ago.  The rodeo was already in a state of flux when the pandemic first hit, and with similar events of large public gatherings falling by the wayside, it was a matter of time before an official decision had to be made.

The Outlook rodeo committee posted the following on its Facebook page on Monday, June 8:

“It is with very heavy hearts that we are announcing the cancellation of our 2020 Riverbank Rodeo.

The decision to cancel was a very difficult one however we believe it is in the best interest of our spectators, sponsors and contestants to not move forward. We have to be cognizant of health concerns and even though the province is doing very well, we do not want to be the reason people get sick.

There is a large amount of planning that goes in to making the rodeo a success and due to COVID-19 that was virtually put on hold. We will take this extra time to ensure we can come back in 2021 with a great Rodeo!

Thank you everyone for your continued support, be safe and enjoy your Summer. See you next year!”
