SASKATOON — The city's 45 Summer Play Program Sites are set to kick off the summer season on Tuesday, July 4, and will run until Wednesday, Aug. 23.

Tailored for children aged two to 12, these free drop-in programs offer a range of activities, including water play, sports, games, and crafts. The summer play program will operate at 30 paddling pool locations and 15 spray pad locations throughout the city. To find a complete list of sites, visit saskatoon.ca/play.

During weekdays, the Play Programs will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with shorter hours on Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additionally, selected locations will host Weekend Play Programs on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., starting Saturday, July 8, until Sunday, August 20. Just so you know, the weekend program will also be open on Monday, August 7, during the August long weekend.

On the opening day, the paddling pools will undergo public health inspections, causing a slight delay in their opening. However, all collections are expected to be open by 3:00 p.m. on July 4. Dry programming will continue as scheduled. The paddling pools will operate within the Summer Play Program hours, but the fill and drain times may vary. Please consult the staff to confirm operating hours. All spray pads will be available daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Parents and guardians are reminded that children under six must be supervised by an adult or a responsible youth aged 12 or older during the Play Program hours. To ensure the safety of preschool-age children in and around water, the city has implemented the following policy: "For every two preschoolers under the age of six, there must be one adult or responsible youth (12 years or older) within arm's length, supervising the preschoolers' water play and activity."
