With the “Moonlight Madness” in full swing, everyone filing into the Broda Sportsplex was greeted with the wonderful singing of Christmas carols prior to the Friday night showdown between the Kamsack Atom Flyers and the Yorkton Deneschuk Terriers.

A Family Literacy Fun Night was held at Keeseekoose Chief’s Education Centre on November 28 organized by teacher Crystal Whitehawk in partnership with Carol Marriott, literacy coordinator with the Parkland Regional Library, Literacy Hub.

Students from Grades 6 to 12 at the Keeseekoose Chief’s Education Centre (KCEC) were preparing to take a highway trip in a 56-passenger bus on November 21. Leaving at 6 a.m.

A Norquay woman who is passionate about her community and about volunteerism has been presented with a plaque from the Garden of Saskatchewan (GOS) Citizen’s award committee.

Preeceville and Sturgis Schools along with schools in Canora, Kamsack and Norquay have benefited from the Farmers Filthy Five race that was held in Stenen in the spring.

Recently I visited with Bruce Frederickson of Theodore to talk about a project of his to recreate the grand home of Richard Seeman, one of the earliest settlers in the district. Seeman was a major influence in the region.

After a difficult defeat against Yorkton, the Kamsack Atom Flyers bounced back in fine fashion to gain a split of two games over the past weekend. On November 23, the Flyers hit the highway for the first road game of the year.

November 17 was minor hockey day in Kamsack. The Broda Sportsplex was jam-packed with players, coaches, families and fans for the entire day as all Flyers teams had a game to play throughout the day.

Kamsack continues to be a leading edge community with the opening of a new dental clinic in the same building as the town’s existing medical clinic.

The position of fire chief was left vacant in August when Cody Langlois resigned from the Kamsack Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) to pursue other opportunities.
