The annual Spring Expo will be held in Yorkton this week at the Gallagher Centre.

Saskatchewan plans to develop regulations that will prohibit the use of indoor tanning beds by youth under 18 years of age. The regulations are expected to be finalized in time for implementation in summer 2015.

The Good Spirit School Division has hired a new director of education. Rhae-Ann Holoien will replace outgoing director Dwayne Reeve effective August 1, 2015.

MC Knoll School held its annual Survivor fundraiser night April 1. This year, during the day, the senior students (Grades 7 and 8) led the younger kids in solving the mystery of the missing knight.

The latest edition of the Parkland Outdoor Show and Expo is set for April 18 and 19 in the city. “Booth space is filling in pretty well,” said organizer Dean Schill.

For the third year running, Ducks Unlimited’s annual banquet on May 8 will feature a barbecue sauce cookoff between Yorkton media outlets. The supper will be ribs featuring four sauces created by local media celebrities.

The Yorkton Film Festival YFF has its lineup for the 2015 edition. Last week, the festival announced all the film nominees that will be screened May 21 to 24. A total of 89 short films are vying for awards in 20 categories.
