The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce announces that no election will be required for the 8 positions on the Chamber’s 2016 Board of Directors as only 8 nominations were received. Returning to the Board are Carol Yaholnitsky, Stephanie Buckle and Randy Hrwykiw. New to the Board are Dustin Brears, Sarah Kowalchuk, Peter Krasny, Gillian Potter and Mike Stackhouse. Each Director will serve a two year term.
Joel Martinuk, President of the Yorkton Chamber is pleased with the quality of the Directors. “The 3 returning Directors bring the Chamber experience to the Board Table and the new Directors will bring new skills and ideas,” he said. “2016 will be a great year for the Chamber!”
Juanita Polegi, Executive Director indicated that the new Directors will be offered some training early in 2016. Following the training, each Director will select at least one of the Chamber’s 4 standing committees on which to serve. “The work of the committees is important as each committee focuses on a different aspect of the Chamber’s mandate,” she said. “The committees examine an issue or opportunity and then make a recommendation to the entire Board as to how to proceed.”
The new members of the Board will take their seat at the Chamber Board table in January at which time the Executive is then elected by the Directors.
Directors serving the second year of their term include Joel Martinuk, Brent Murdock, Shawn Patenaude, Mike Popowich, Kelly Price, Don Rae, Susan Stewardson, and Corey Werner.
