YTW: What does Christmas mean to you?

Christmas brings me immense joy as I celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. My Christian faith centres on him, and the eternal hope he offers not only the world, but each person who follows him.

YTW: What do you think of Treasury Board's decision to allow employees to decorate their offices and cubicles this year?

I agree with this decision-Christmas is a part of our culture, and open for all to enjoy.

YTW: Do you have a message for your non-Christian constituents?

To my non-Christian constituents, I wish every joy of the season, including precious time with family and friends.

YTW: What was the most important thing for Yorkton-Melville that happened in Ottawa in 2012?

The recently passed budget, in the form of two large omnibus bills, contained a host of items crucial to keeping our economy strong and our taxes low.

Yorkton-Melville is a bright spot in a province that has only fairly recently shifted from a "have-not" to a "wish-we-lived-there" status. That's in large part due to the fact that our government keeps taxes low.

YTW: What was your personal best political moment of 2012?

Definitely the repeal of the gun registry. As my constituents know, I've worked for eighteen years to make that happen, knowing it was crucial to protecting the rights and reputations of legal gun owners, hunters, and sport shooters.

YTW: What was the worst?

That would have to be watching the defeat of my fellow MP Stephen Woodworth's motion (312) to examine the definition of a human being. This is long overdue, and Canada is far behind almost every other country in the world in clarifying this.

What do you think will be the political highlight of 2013 for Yorkton-Melville?

So many countries in the world are experiencing shattering instability. As a country goes, so goes a province-and a constituency. I have strong hope that at the end of 2013, we'll be able to say that Yorkton-Melville has continued to benefit from Canada remaining one of the best countries in the world to live in!
