Several details from police have begun to emerge regarding the murder of a woman near Springside on Saturday morning.
The victim is now confirmed to be 40-year-old Tammey Lynn Kulaway of Springside. Richard Lesann, 43, has been charged with her murder.
Canora RCMP say that they responded to a report of a stabbing at Lesann's rural residence near Springside at around 9:30 am on March 12. A third party made the call after witnessing the incident.
The officers' initial patrol of the scene raised concerns that the suspect was armed and entrenched in his residence, prompting them to call in the RCMP "F" Division Emergency Response Team. However, while the response team was en route, police contacted Lesann by phone and convinced him to exit the home without incident. He was arrested immediately.
Police say that an autopsy for Tammey Lynn Kulaway is scheduled for this week in Saskatoon, but that an official cause of death will not be released.
No details on the relationship between Kulaway and Lesann have been revealed, but police say that the two knew one another.
Lesann is facing charges of second-degree murder.
