Premier Brad Wall was on hand to witness the signing of two new contracts for Saskatoon-based International Road Dynamics, a high-tech firm based in Saskatoon.
"This marks the beginning of a new, mature chapter in our trade relationship with India as we move beyond food and fertilizer and into high-tech, innovative products and it reminds all of us that Saskatchewan firms can compete anywhere on this planet," Wall said. "I'd like to congratulate everyone at IRD for their market success in India, and the Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership (STEP) for the work they have done in helping to conclude these agreements."
International Road Dynamics will supply the toll collection system for the Bandra Worli Sea Link Project, one of the most prestigious infrastructure projects in India today. The Sea Link will see daily traffic of 37,000 vehicles per day and cut the time of travel between Bandra and Worli from 60 minutes to seven minutes.
IRD has also been awarded the operations and maintenance contract for the 180 kilometer long Delhi-Agra National Highway. The company will be responsible for toll equipment, cash management, traffic management, road safety and route patrolling.
"International Road Dynamics has been so successful in its Indian operations that it has opened a new, larger office in New Delhi - this is a remarkable Saskatchewan success story," Wall said. "We have been in discussions since we arrived on the major issues of pulse crop sales, potash and innovation. This deal shows that companies here are doing what they do best - making real deals with immediate benefits to themselves and the people of Saskatchewan."
