Now at the Godfrey Dean Gallery - TRACKS: Joe Varro, July 28 to Sept. 14, 2014. Paintings, drawings, prints and sketches from the 1940s and 1950s documenting working life on the railroad at the end of the steam era. As a young man, Joe Varro worked on the CPR in Regina, beginning during WWII and continuing through the 1950s when he left to continue his education and become an art teacher. The Western Development Museum - Yorkton, the Yorkton Threshermen's Club and the East Central Seniors invite you to an old-fashioned celebration Aug. 2 & 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily at the 59th Threshermen's Show and Seniors' Festival. Visitors will be treated to a glimpse of Saskatchewan's heritage through the operation of vintage equipment and the re-enactment of methods and techniques from the past. Take time out to sample pioneer treats like ice cream and bread freshly baked in an outdoor clay oven, made by hand with old-fashioned homemaking skills. Quilting by the York Colony Quilters Guild will also be demonstrated along with other handiwork.

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress will present on Wed., July 30 at 7:00 p.m. at St Mary's Cultural Centre, brothers Andriy and Pylyp Rojen documentary, Babylon 13, a film collection of stories during Maidan in Ukraine in 2013/2014. They are touring from Pacific to Atlantic and have started in Saskatchewan, moving on to the Ukrainian festival in Dauphin.

The Yorkton Film Festival is proud to announce the second screening in its summer screening schedule, as we will hold a screening of the documentary "A Dog's Life." A fresh and playful look into the lives of the canine companions that many of us think we know so well, A Dog's Life explores the widely assumed facts that may actually be based on faulty and out-dated research. A fascinating and fun documentary that gives us a 'dog's eye view' of the world. All films are presented free of charge and are open to all. A new exhibit, just right for summer fun and fantasy, is waiting for YOU at community pARTners gallery in Yorkton Public Library. In Creatures from Sky to Sea, Joseph Anderson & Lissa Robinson have developed a thematic contrast between air and water to develop their unusual menagerie of avian-like and underwater creatures. Using the texture of various fabrics, formal constructions and decorative ornamentation, the soft sculptures will allude to feathers, pointy beaks, tentacles and shimmering gills. This OSAC touring exhibition, brought to you by Yorkton Arts Council and Yorkton Public Library, is here to delight kids of all ages until the last week in August.
