Pickering Bank

Yorkton's first bank, W.H. Pickering & Co., opened in 1897 at #21 Front Street. In 1899, it was taken over by the Union Bank. C.W.R. Pearson was the first manager and he continued in the employ of the Union Bank.

Yorkton's first bank, W.H. Pickering & Co., opened in 1897 at #21 Front Street. In 1899, it was taken over by the Union Bank. C.W.R. Pearson was the first manager and he continued in the employ of the Union Bank. A private enterprise, the Pickering Bank appears to have had its origin in Minnedosa, around the late 1880's.
