SALTCOATS - Prayer day marked

The monthly Pot luck noon Luncheon was Mon., March 17 at the Stirling Room. All are welcome.

The International World Day of Prayer service in Saltcoats was at St. Augustine's. Sharon Gibler and Phyllis McCallum read Leader parts. Scripture readers were Emily Maddaford and Gwen Sutherland. Lorraine Andreas read from the traditional woman's background. Sandra Kerr read from a farm woman's experience. Muriel Cameron represented a contemporary Egyptian citizen and Gloria Willis read from and electronically updated and educated middle class perspective. Several participants dressed in Hebeya with Hegab head covering. Rev Kim Solo spoke of Egypt's role in ancient history from before St Mark's (he brought Good News) time including times of refuge, education and a countries ups and downs right up to the Egypt of today. The $93.28 offering goes to Women's Interchurch Council of Canada (WDP governing body for this country) where it funds the WDP service costs as well as grants divided among projects in every continent. The 2015 (93rd year) service is from Bahamas with theme "Jesus said to them: Do you know what I have done to you?'

The next Musical Evening at St. Augustine's Anglican Church is Thurs., March 27 at 7:00 p.m. with Walter Farquharson.

It is hoped he'll enlighten all about his hymn writing gift. Refreshments are provided.
