The Yorkton Municipal Airport hosted an event this weekend to provide visitors the opportunity to learn the history of their local airport, as well as a chance to see several vintage planes on display.

Friday was a big day for standardbred racing in Yorkton as Cornerstone Raceway hosted the 2013 edition of the Prairie Lily Pace and Standardbred Canada's 'Bring a Friend Night'.

There were 236 registered runners who participated in the Charity Road Race on Sunday, August 18th. We were very pleased to have a great turn-out, and to see the runners collect so many pledges and raise so much money.

Yorkton Council approved a tender at its regular meeting Monday to do some upgrade work at the City's wastewater treatment plant.

The hotel fraternity welcomed its second new member to the fold within the last year Thursday as Home Inn & Suites held its official ribbon cutting.

Tractor pulling kind of snuck up on Larry Hilworth in terms of an interest, and has now become a major hobby for the Yorkton implement dealer. "I remember being at a tractor pull in the early '80s in Yorkton," said Hilworth.

Yorkton Council continued the process Monday toward a subdivision on the former C.J. Houston school property. Council previously granted approval to a subdivision on the CJ Houston lands adjacent to Wellington Avenue and Darlington Street West.

The raw row of truck and tractor pulls drew large crowds to the Yorkton Exhibition grandstand for two nights of gears, grease, smoke and noise. It is the third year for the Maple Farm Equipment-sponsored event.
