Traffic fatalities reach five-year high

Yorkton RCMP members were focused last Wednesday and Thursday on intersection safety. The blitz was part of a province-wide SGI-sponsored initiative named Operation Crossroads intended to raise awareness of intersection-related hazards.

Landing complete

A $4 million truck climbing lane project on Highway 4 south of Saskatchewan Landing is complete, enhancing safety and improving traffic flow. The 5 km project included grading, widening and surface work over the past two highway construction seasons.

September means elm trimming time

The annual restriction on pruning all types of elm trees is over at the end of August. Homeowners are encouraged to prune their elms, beginning September 1.

Norman Keith of Delta, BC, celebrated his 100th birthday on Aug. 2. Norman was originally from Waldron, SK. He was married to Norma Nicholson, the oldest child of Norman and Sandra Nicholson and a sister to Iris Groseth.
