January 8 January 7 – The five candidates vying for a seat on Canora town council in a byelection agreed to participate in the first candidates’ forum Canora was to see in many years.

The Canora Cougars’ senior boys came in second in their home tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Cougars defeated Norquay 66-49 in the opening game of the eight-team tournament.

Playing to a 5-5 tie against the visiting Esterhazy White Flyers on Sunday, the Canora Peewee Cobras remain undefeated this season. It was the first time these two teams have met this year, said Kent Hembling, head coach.

The snowmobile season was slow in starting because of a lack of snow, said Becky Scheller, secretary of the Roughrider Snowmobile Club in Preeceville.
