The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 36 calls during the week of May 13 to May 19, some of which included: one traffic accident, seven provincial traffic offences, eight other provincial statutes, two mischiefs, two break and enters, one theft and five other incidents.
Residential disturbance
On May 14, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a disturbance at a residence in Canora. Police attended and learned that a male had broken into the residence. The male was located a short distance away from the residence and was arrested and charged with break and enter.
Missing person returns
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a request on May 14 to locate a missing person in Canora who did not return home the previous night. Police made initial inquires to locate the man but he returned home on his own accord.
Suffering dogs
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of two dogs being left in a hot car parked in Canora on May 16. Prior to police attending, the driver of the vehicle had returned and left the area. Police want to remind the public that leaving an animal or child in a hot car unattended can lead to serious bodily harm or even death as the temperature inside the vehicle can reach an unsafe level.
Threats
On May 16, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to an uttering threats complaint in Sturgis. Police continue to investigate.
Door left open
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report on May 17 of a break and enter that occurred in Canora. Police attended and were able to determine that a break and enter did not occur but the front door of the residence was left opened by the homeowner.
Mysterious tent
The Canora RCMP Detachment received a complaint of a male sleeping in a tent on the outskirts of Canora on May 18. Police attended but were unable to locate the man.
Computer hacking
On May 18, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a computer being hacked in Preeceville. Police continue to investigate with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP Tech Crimes Unit.
