Esterhazy Flour Mill receives grant

At 6 P.M. on September 23rd, Mayor Forster called the Esterhazy council meeting to order and the council reviewed the agenda. Councilor Flick made a motion to accept the agenda as amended which was carried.

At 6 P.M. on September 23rd, Mayor Forster called the Esterhazy council meeting to order and the council reviewed the agenda. Councilor Flick made a motion to accept the agenda as amended which was carried.

Carrying on, the council reviewed the Minutes of the last regular council meeting. Councilor Flick made a motion to accept the minutes; the motion carried.

Next, the council reviewed Financials. After a short discussion, Councilor Petracek made a motion to accept which was carried.

Carrying on, Public Works Foreman Meyer gave his Foreman’s Report. The Planning and Development report was heard by the council next after. Planning and Economic Development Director MacDonald reviewed the changes to the sign corridor policy. All signs will be 4 x 8 and portable signs are not permitted. Councilor Roland made a motion to amend the policy for the sign corridor which was carried.

Brenda Redman with the Community Development/Recreation Report was next on the agenda. Yoga has started in the SE Boreen Center. Over fifty vehicles were in attendance at the drive-in movie offered at the Center. The Dana Antel arena is open with COVID-19 protocols. Minor hockey and figure skating will have regular ice time. The sound system has been installed in the arena and “sounds really good”. There has been a mixed response to the COVID-19 protocols so far. Esterhazy Flour Mill received a grant to improve the siding at the Flour Mill.

Then, the Council reviewed the Water Works Report. After a short discussion, the council heard the Acting Administrator Report. First Aid and CPR training has been completed for the office staff as well as computer training. MEEP funds have all been received.

Next, Councilor Roland removed herself as the Council Discussed the Esterhazy Curling rink contract.

Finally, Councilor Roland made a motion to accept the Administration Report which was carried.

Carrying on with New Business, the council discussed the Municipal Election scheduled for November 9, 2020.

Next, the council discussed the Yorkton Library separating from the Parkland Regional Library. There will be an approximately $4600 increase in levy when Parkland Regional Library and the City of Yorkton Library split from the $18,000 the Town of Esterhazy already pays.

The landfill was next discussed. Tin was purchased to build a tin building at the landfill to house the landfill compactor. The extra tin can be used at the ball diamonds. Councilor Petracek made a motion to purchase the tin for the pole shed; motion carried.

Next, the council discussed a crosswalk sign or lights by Main Street by the Museum, as well as by Town Autobody; prices will be investigated. Moving on, the Council reviewed the Town Correspondence. After a short discussion, Councilor Petracek made a motion to accept the Correspondence received by the town over the last month; motion carried.

Councilor Roland made a motion to move into Committee of the Whole; motion carried.
