Man accused of stealing $250,000 from dealership appears in court

Saskatoon Police allege that Dwayne Bruce Onofriechuk defrauded Mid-City Auto of $250,000 in inventory.

SASKATOON - A 50-year-old Saskatoon man accused of defrauding a car dealership of $250,000 worth of inventory made his first appearance in Saskatoon court.

Court documents show that Dwayne Bruce Onofriechuk is charged with fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000 for stealing used vehicles from Mid-City Auto between Sept. 15, 2016, and Feb. 15, 2018, while he was employed at the dealership. The charges against him haven’t been proven in court.

Onofriechuk was arrested by the Saskatoon Police Service Fraud Unit in March after a lengthy investigation and they thanked members of the public who provided them with information during the investigation. Onofriechuk appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court at the end of April and Crown Prosecutor Ainsley Furlonger is proceeding by indictment against him.

Onofriechuk is scheduled to appear in court again May 18 for election.
