Olson rink wins annual Stenen Open Bonspiel

The Tim Olson rink of Preeceville, with Jess Olson (third), Ralph Ager (second) and Denise Olson (lead), won the annual Stenen Open Bonspiel which ran from January 31 to February 7. There were 16 rinks registered for the bonspiel.

            There were 16 rinks registered for the bonspiel.

            The Olson team beat the Rick Pawliw rink of Norquay in the final game. Curling with Pawliw were: Jeremy Lenych, Michael Andrushko and Trent Antoniuk.

            The Brad Knutson rink of Norquay, with: Pat Ferris (third), Vi Knutson (second) and Sandy Ferris (lead), won the second event. The team defeated the Bob Lebo of Preeceville with Dale Zubko, Nick Bodnar and Roy Fairburn.

            The Merv Secundiak rink of Sturgis, with Eugene Boychuk (third), Rob Wilcott (second) and Terry Mang (lead), won the third event. The Secondiak rink defeated the Ken Bazansky rink of Sturgis with Perry Keller, Garrett Baziuk and Carla Keller.

            The bonspiel banquet was held on February 5.

            “It was a fun evening which started with a wonderful roast beef supper which included perogies, cabbage rolls, potatoes, gravy, various types of salads and wonderful desserts,” said Brenda Lisoway on behalf of the organizers. “After the meal, the attendees were entertained by the annual Stenen bonspiel auction.

            “The community of Stenen pulled together to once again put on a fantastic event,” she said.
