Moosomin’s Red Hot Oompa Loompas won the Slo pitch championship in Moosomin for the second year in a row on Saturday, August 29, after beating the team from Lepine Roofing 22-10.

The team has been playing in the league since 2015.

“The team started originally as a high school graduate team in 2015 and then spun off into this team,” said Troy Poole, team manager.

The pandemic almost threatened to shut down the tournament, but in the end it just got a later start date.

“Usually the league starts in June, and the tournament starts in July, but COVID-19 kind of threw a wrench into the plans. So, we started the league late this year,” said Poole.

Other teams in the league include the Kinsmen and The Booze Cannons.
