Saskatoon Police engaged in a chase with a suspect in a stolen vehicle early Wednesday morning.

SASKATOON — One man has been arrested and charged following an incident where the suspect evaded the police while driving a stolen vehicle.

At approximately 4 a.m. on Nov. 1, officers observed a vehicle known to have recently been stolen stationary in the area of 112th Street West and Central Avenue.

Upon activation of the police vehicle’s emergency equipment, the suspect's vehicle began evading police in an erratic manner through a nearby park and at a high rate of speed on residential streets.

Officers on the ground disengaged from the incident, while those in the air took over monitoring the movement of the suspect vehicle.

Following the guidance of the Air Support Unit, members of patrol positioned themselves to successfully deploy a tire deflation device in the path of the suspect's vehicle, disabling it near the intersection of Central Avenue and College Drive.

The suspect then fled the vehicle on foot to the area of Carleton Drive, where he resisted arrest but was ultimately brought into police custody.

The 35-year-old Saskatoon man is facing charges relating to possession of stolen property over $5,000, dangerous driving, evading police and resisting arrest.
