With the holidays approaching, and the extraordinary strain on health-care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are asking how they can show support for our team members. While dropping off food for our staff to enjoy is a thoughtful gesture, we cannot accept this type of donation due to COVID-19 restrictions.

We kindly ask that you please do not bring food to any of the hospitals or other Saskatchewan Health Authority  facilities, including holiday baking, individually wrapped items or packaged meals.

However, we know that many residents want to show their gratitude for all that health-care workers are doing each day. Here are some suggestions on how you can show your support and encouragement throughout the holidays during the pandemic.

*        Donate to your local health foundation. Your contributions go directly to support health-care, the staff and physicians in your community. To find your local foundation, visit the Donate section on the Saskatchewan Health Authority website.

 * Show your gratitude virtually. On your personal social media channels, use the hashtag #SKHCW, and give a shout out to our staff, physicians and volunteers. Tag the SHA on Facebook or Twitter (@saskhealth) to help spread the gratitude.

We encourage everyone to thank the health-care worker in your life, publicly or privately, and show Saskatchewan’s health-care providers and health-care support staff how much you appreciate everything they have done throughout the pandemic.

Your kind words will mean so much.

And, as always, the biggest way you can show health-care workers how much you care is to  stay home, follow the public health orders, practice regular hand hygiene and do your part to slow the spread of COVID-19.
