The St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Sturgis played host to this year's annual World Day of Prayer that focused on the women of Cuba on March 4. The United church members also joined in the service.

The 64th annual Sturgis ice carnival featured the Sturgis Figure skating club members and their achievements from throughout the year at the Sturgis Skating Arena on March 5. The carnival theme was A Night of One-Hit Wonders .

The Whitehawk Arts Council is scheduled to host the last concert in the Stars for Saskatchewan performances on March 17 when the Wheatland Band will bring its signature comedy and heart-felt performance to the Sturgis Community Hall.

The Sturgis Kinsmen-Miracle continued the tradition of helping others when the Kinsmen hosted their 36th annual Mini-Miracle on March 3. The Mini-Miracle raised $31,040.

The Preeceville Hospital’s annual bed push for Telemiracle raised a record setting $7,567.30 on March 3. “We want to recognize all the people who make this possible each year,” said Brenda Lubiniecki, an organizer.

The Whitehawk Arts Council welcomed the Travelling Mabels in concert at the Sturgis Community Hall on February 25. This was the second concert of the season in the Stars for Saskatchewan series.

The Preeeville Atom Pats recorded a pair of wins, advancing them to the league final playoffs. The Pats took on Churchbridge on February 27 and won 11-3 win.

Avid snowmobilers from across the area joined together to have a fun afternoon of snowmobiling during the annual Okla snowmobile derby on February 28. The Okla derby organizers were thrilled to have 49 sleds entered in the derby.
