The Saskatchewan Selects team is back from Texas. Participating in the 2019 International Pigskin Classic in San Antonio, TX, the teams from Saskatchewan – which include Yorkton players at all levels – put in a good showing in the tournament.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed national offensive lineman Dakoda Shepley to a two-year contract, plus an option year in 2021. Shepley (6’4 – 310) was selected by the Roughriders in the first round (5th overall) of the 2018 CFL Draft.

Mixed curling teams from CCS (Canora Composite School) have excelled in recent playoff competition.

The Preeceville Pats peewee hockey team defeated Yorkton in a best of three series to advance to play against Moosomin. Preeceville hosted Yorkton on February 27 to face off in the first game, which ended with a 9 to 6 loss for the home team.

Yorkton Terrier head coach Mat Hehr is satisfied with his team’s effort in the opening two games of their playoff series with Nipawin.

A hard-fought comeback bid by the Saskatchewan Rush forced overtime, but it was the Buffalo Bandits who stole the victory.

Game one of the playoff series between Yorkton and Nipawin was a defensive affair. When the teams met in game two at the Centennial Arena in Nipawin the offences took over.
