Dear Editor: I was shocked to hear that the choral program is to be cut at the Yorkton Regional High School. There is not room here to state the documented benefits of music education for our young people.

The demise of the choir program at Yorkton Regional High School has created a chorus of voices calling for all involved to rethink the change.

Let us dispense with the notion that rural Saskatchewan people are generally racist towards First Nations people. Right now, this seems to an all-too-common perception that is neither true nor helpful when it comes to finding solutions.

Whenever I hear of someone who has the ability to speak several languages, I am at once filled with admiration and envy.
