The world of politics is one which seems at times to take on a life of its own, and that was certainly the case Monday as Canadians headed to the polls. It was an election in which Canadians set history with their ballots.

The priority for people who run oil companies is to maximize profits. We know their words and actions are largely guided by a commitment to shareholders, and so we consider them in that context.

I have always felt that various community groups are fortunate to have certain individuals looking after the organization and day to day operations of our local service clubs.

Dear Editor: Emergency? Never mind the floodwaters at our front doors, we have bigger problems at hand. I, amongst a community, am grateful and excited to hear that two new doctors have agreed to come to our community in September.

It wasn't the record year we saw in 2008, but 2010 was a very good year for Saskatchewan's Crown corporations.

Dear Editor: Before the privatization of garbage pick-up in the city, garbage cans were in the back lane to get the stink and flies away from the house.

Watching this federal election campaign can bring tears to your eyes for a couple of reasons. Some of the things these leaders will do to buy your vote borders on the line between hilarious and sad.

We're at that awkward season now, aren't we: past winter, but with enough snow around that it doesn't quite feel like spring yet. Everything looks dusty and dirty and tired after a long, hard winter.
