Plastic ducks highlighted amusement for many at duck derby

The Sturgis Kin Club annual duck derby was another success, with 630 plastic ducks sold.

Children enjoyed bouncing in an inflatable bouncy castle, especially when they had the opportunity to help mix the plastic ducks for the Sturgis Kin Club's duck derby. The ducks were dumped into the bouncy castle by organizers.

PREECEVILLE — The Sturgis Kin Club annual duck derby was another success, with 630 plastic ducks sold. The derby took a different approach this year, being held indoors at the Sturgis Community Hall on June 8.

The fun family event featured a trade show, burgers, chicken wings and a beer garden. Children enjoyed bouncing in an inflatable bouncy castle, especially when they had the opportunity to help mix the plastic ducks as they were dumped into the bouncy castle.

Trade show vendors were Heather Descalchuk, Laura Davis, Pam Schmuck, Elsie Jensen, Heather Chyz and Barry and Rashele Wasylenchuk and Loresssa McLeod. 

Crystal Lario won $630 for first place, Taylor Sliva won 472.50 for second, Nichol Langille won $315 for third, and Trenley Nelson won $157.50 for fourth place.
