Preeceville Progress

The Sturgis Kinette Fall Market attracted 26 vendors and was said to have been a huge success. The market was held at the Sturgis Community Hall on September 16. The Kinettes featured a lunch counter and a raffle table.

Jasmine Knihniski of Preeceville traveled to India with a group of 21 Canadian volunteers to help build three classrooms for disadvantaged students in India. She started her journey on July 21 and returned home on August 8.

Kelsey Ecological Society held its annual barbecue on August 26 at the residence of Kathleen and Michael Pitt's Lake Lomond farm. "It was a very sunny Saturday," said Kathleen Pitt.

The village of Endeavour welcomed everyone to help them celebrate Canada 150 on September 3. The community rallied together to host various fun games for children that included a sack race, egg relay, three-legged race, potato race and hop scotch.

Chlorisa Erickson, originally of Preeceville, has been hired to share the position of regional KidsFirst community developer in the Good Spirit School Division.

Charlene Tvait of Preeceville opened a new hair salon, known as Charlene's Shear Perfection, on September 5. The location of the new salon is 29 Second Avenue NE. Tvait, who was raised in Porcupine Plain, graduated high school in 2015.

Residents in and around the Preeceville trading area met at the Preeceville Legion Hall to discuss the issue of emergency services and actute beds at the Preeceville and District Health Centre.

September 10 marked the first Firefighters’ Memorial Day in Preeceville and Canada. In August the federal government announced a special memorial day for firefighters would be observed on the second Sunday of September going forward.
