Yorkton This Week

The Yorkton Public Library is open at 9 a.m. Monday-Friday. --- This year Animal Rescue Team Yorkton Inc. has joined together with SIGN in Yorkton. We are doing a Toy Drive for both children and pets to help families in our community.

August 28, 1924 - December 6, 2017. Alexandra (Sandra) Kormos of Yorkton, SK passed away on December 6, 2017 at the age of 93 at the Aspen Bluffs Villa in Yorkton.

The Yorkton branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation held its annual horn measuring night last week. The night saw a number of horns from elk, moose and whitetail deer measured for the group’s annual awards.

The Yorkton Terriers showed some hometown pride Saturday with a big win over Estevan. The Bruins had buried the Terriers a night earlier in Estevan outscoring the visitors 9-0.

Christian Arvay of the Saltcoats district passed away unexpectedly on December 3, 2017 at the age of 17 years. Christian was born on November 1, 2000 in Yorkton Union Hospital at 10:37 am.

Elizabeth (Betty) Nygren. August 19, 1946 - December 7, 2017. It is with sad and heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of Betty Nygren.

Nicholas Joseph Chaikowsky (Nick), age 70, of Churchbridge, formerly of Yorkton, SK, beloved husband of Louise, passed away suddenly at home on November 24, 2017. Nick was born in Foam Lake on December 5, 1946.

Mrs. Christine Ooi of Yorkton, beloved wife of Richard Ooi, passed away on November 30, 2017 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 69 years of age. Christine Mayyou Ooi (nee Seetho) was born in Butterworth, Malaysia on September 12, 1948.
