Yorkton This Week

Women in Yorkton will have a chance to learn about moving past their personal pain at a special event at a local ministry. The DreamCentre is hosting a “ladies only” coffee house evening on Sept. 28 at their Myrtle Avenue address.

Last week saw a pair of tough battles for the Yorkton Terriers. They faced off twice against the Notre Dame Hounds and lost in both SJHL contests. On Thursday night, Yorkton traveled to play the Hounds, where they lost 6-1.

The Yorkton RawTec Maulers kicked off their Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League regular season last weekend with a pair of games against the Tisdale Trojans. Despite a strong effort, they ended up in the losing column of both games.

It’s fair to say that this week’s edition of Yorkton This Week might be dedicated to the arts. Look at some of the content: We have the Canada 150 mosaic, two upcoming concerts, two art gallery openings.

Recent data says Saskatchewan students are graduating high school at the highest rate in 20 years. A report from the Saskatchewan School Boards Association (SSBA) says the provincial rate for high school graduates has risen.

One Yorkton product is making quite a name for himself in the WHL. Turner Ottenbreit was named as captain for the Seattle Thunderbirds last week. This was after spending time training with an NHL team.

SUTHERLAND - Lloyd Sutherland, beloved husband of Karol of Yorkton, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina following a brief illness. He was 66 years of age.
