As Yorkton Mayor Bob Maloney would comment “even bylaws outlive their usefulness.” As a result, Yorkton Council unanimously passed a bylaw to repeal bylaws at their regular meeting Monday.

A Yorkton dog is on the mend after suffering a fractured leg due to a gunshot. Boss, a dog taken in by Guardian Angel Animal Rescue (GAAR), is recovering from surgery to his front left leg.

A new development in the Mekayla Bali case suggests she may be outside of Canada. A recent bulletin from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) stated that Mekayla may be in the United States, specifically Seattle or Portland.

The 106th Access Communications SK Amateur Men’s Golf Championship is being held at Deer Park Municipal Golf Course in Yorkton this week. The tournament, comprised of 42 golfers, started on Monday and runs until Thursday.

Anna May Barr was born March 8, 1927 to Henry and Elsie Hagel of the Hilltop area. She went to school at Hilltop School and then later went into Yorkton to further her education.

Jeanette Rae (nee Olson) Bezborotko of Theodore, Sk passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. She had just celebrated her 70th birthday. Jeanette "Rae" Olson was born on February 11, 1947 at the Red Cross Hospital in Beardmore, ON.

Sharon Joyce Pickup, beloved wife of Kevin Pickup of Yorkton, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 54 years of age.
