Yorkton This Week

Living in rural Saskatchewan has always had its rewards, but it’s also had its challenges. One of the challenges is that it often seems to be the place that’s the last to get something and the first to lose something.

The third annual Yorkton Paper Bag Players Renaissance Faire will be held this Saturday, July 22 at Rodney Ridge Park in the city. The highlight of activities will be the Paper Bag Players performance of the Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon.

This past Saturday, ten athletes from Yorkton and area participated in the annual Special Olympics Regina bocce Tournament at Douglas Park. It was a great, but hot, day. The Parkland athletes did very well.

It was another action-packed day at Yellowhead International Speedway on Sunday, July 16. Stock cars raced bumper-to-bumper on the track in a number of races. It was a dusty day on the tracks, but there was a water truck present to ensure safety.

Find your loosest pants, grab a bigger belt and get ready to eat as much barbecue as you can. The first Rhythm and Ribs event is bringing three days of music and food to the Gallagher Centre grounds.
