Yorkton This Week

The entire province seems to currently lie in the shadow of what may be in the upcoming Saskatchewan budget. The shadow has grown darker as the months have rolled along. In June 2016, the deficit was estimated to come down at $434 million.

Jennie Lavina Stav. Born April 15, 1920 in Hillandale, SK, Jennie passed away in Nanaimo, BC on February 8, 2017. She was predeceased by her husband, Jean in 2004, as well as her 11 brothers and sisters.

Elroy Mervin 'PeeWee' Gehring passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 66 years of age.

Shirley Anne Oshanek-Markov passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Shirley is the daughter of William Oshanek and the late Mary Oshanek (nee Chopey).

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Tanya Mathilda Marie Kirschman on January 26, 2017 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville, SK with her family by her side. Tanya was born on January 8, 1986 in Yorkton, SK.

Esther Amelia Kutcher passed away peacefully on February 3, 2017 with her beloved family surrounding her at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina. Esther was 69 years of age. She was born on November 24, 1947 at Meadow Lake, SK to John and Amelia Evans.

They work at the gas station where I fill up my faithful sedan. They head organizations for which I’ve spoken. Some are clients through my work. Others have attended my church. Sitting at their kitchen tables, I’ve shared their home-cooked food.

There are three NHL teams in California, and they are doing reasonably well in their division, and at the box office – the LA Kings sell out every game, and both Anaheim and San Jose run at 95 per cent capacity.
