Yorkton This Week

From Nov. 10 – 13, the 2017 Skate Canada Saskatchewan Sectionals were held in Humboldt. Seven athletes from Skate Yorkton attended the event. The Yorkton skaters saw a lot of success at the event, including two provincial titles.

The Yorkton RawTec Maulers of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League do a lot to give back to the community whenever they can.

Both the boys and girls volleyball teams from MC Knoll School won the Yorkton Elementary School Sports Association city championships this past weekend. The girls beat St. Michael’s in the final, which earned them the gold medal.

The Yorkton Public Library is open at 9 a.m. Monday-Friday. --- Babysitting Course - Sat., Dec. 3, St. John Ambulance, 21 1st Ave. N., Yorkton. Develop mature and responsible attitude to providing physical care for children from infancy to age 10.

Dear Editor, I’ve done the math and even in these lean times I’ve taken the time from trying to put food on the table to try and understand why Mr. Wall does not do the obvious.

Dear Editor, Re: Municipal election financing With Saskatchewan’s electoral financing system being decried as “the wild west,” many awkward questions are starting to be asked about how our local politicians fundraise for their campaigns.

Maybe it’s not fair to single Saskatchewan’s NDP opposition for sowing the seeds of division in our world through partisanship.

Congratulations are in order for Yorkton’s mayor and, by extension, city itself. At the first post-election meeting of the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA), Bob Maloney was named vice president of cities.

Mr. Walley Hnatiuk of Yorkton passed away on November 14, 2016 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, one day short of his 76th birthday. William (Wally) Hnatiuk was born on November 15, 1940 at Calder, SK.
