LEONARD - Serge Leonard, beloved husband of Karen Leonard of Yorkton passed away peacefully the morning of September 5, 2016 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina with his family by his side.

MYSKO - John Mysko, age 93, beloved husband of Anne Mysko of Yorkton.

The Canadian Federation of University Women/ Yorkton Inc., (CFUW), appeared before the regular meeting of Council Monday seeking to have Sept. 14 proclaimed Canadian Federation of University Women’s Day in the city.

Aaron Kienle is the first new face to declare his attention to seek a Councillor position in the upcoming municipal election. Kienle, 34, a local business person, held a rally and press conference at Patrick Park Sept.

WOROSCHUK - Mrs. Jean Woroschuk of Yorkton, widow of the late Peter Woroschuk, formerly of the Calder district, passed away on August 30, 2016 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 95 years of age.

OSTAFICHUK - Bella. Born September 28, 1920 died peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital on July 27, 2016. Bella is predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and George, sisters Kathleen, Mary and Effie and brothers Bill and John.

STEVELY - Terence 'Terry' James Stevely (April 13, 1948 - Aug. 29, 2016). On Monday, August 29, 2016, much loved husband of Karen (Leech), Terry passed away from pancreatic cancer at his home in Yorkton.

Yorkton Council passed a declaration at its regular meeting Monday to mark Oct. 1, as the Day of Older Persons in the city.

The former owner/publisher of a local newspaper has thrown his hat into the municipal election ring. Ken Chyz, now the proprietor of a marketing and promotions business in town, announced last week he will run as a candidate for councilor.

The Yorkton Regional High School Junior football team is more than a month into their season. The team plays in the Regina Minor Football League and is made up of students from grades 8, 9 and 10 from the school.
